Qualifications:

  • Minimum: High school Diploma
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in a related field or any combination of disability related experience and college education of 2 years or more.

Mission:

The training Counselor provides services that enable the persons served to maximize personal, social and independent living skills.

Work Schedule:

  • To be determined. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday.
  • Shifts: 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., 11:00 p.m to 7:00 a.m.
  • 40 hours per week. Part time also available.

Example of Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the support, development and habilitation of the persons served by participating in the implementation of established programs.
  • Assists persons served in the development of personal care habits.
  • Participates in individual and group therapy sessions.
  • Participates in resident staffings.
  • Provide crisis intervention when necessary.
  • Supervise residents in all of their activities on and off the facility premises.
  • Provides information to parents and other interested parties while maintaining Avenues standards of confidentiality.
  • Ensure safe living conditions for all persons served.
  • Must pass State required background check.
  • Must pass State required program to pass medications to residents
  • Valid drivers license required.
  • Attend seminars, conventions and other training sessions for the purpose of career growth and development.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
