Avenues to Independence, a nonprofit serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, will host its second annual Walking for Avenues fundraising walk on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Maine South High School in Park Ridge. Building on a successful inaugural walk in 2025, the organization has set an ambitious goal of raising $100,000 to support services that help Avenues clients lead independent, fulfilling lives.

This Christmas Eve, Avenues’ Staff and Clients, along with Holly Santelli of Ash and Willow Salon in Park Ridge, were featured on CBS Channel 2 News. The segment celebrated the 15+ years that Holly and her team have generously provided free haircuts to Avenues clients. The story highlighted our clients, who shared how impactful these haircuts have been in helping them live with dignity and independence.

On August 10, members of the Sasser Society were able to gather once again for our annual Sasser Society Dinner, which was held at Park Ridge Country Club.
