On May 29, Illinois entered Phase Three of its reopening plan. With your help and that of many others, the folks with disabilities at Avenues have been able to weather the COVID storm and now can look forward to brighter days as Avenues and the rest of Illinois returns to normal.

Thanks to everyone who has expressed concerns for the folks of Avenues during the current COVID-19 outbreak. Through the work of our direct care and other staff, Avenues has weathered the first wave of this pandemic. The residents and staff who had tested positive three weeks ago have completed their quarantine periods; no additional symptoms have arisen and we are keeping our fingers crossed that the worse is over.

Many friends of Avenues have asked how they can help. We have compiled a list of supplies, activities and donations to help both the clients and our dedicated staff members while they uplift clients' spirits and work to keep them safe and healthy. Due to the "Stay at Home" order, and well-being of Avenues staff and clients, we cannot receive in-kind donations. Instead, we gratefully welcome monetary donations that can be put toward the need of your choice.

Due to the increasing concern regarding Covid-19, Avenues has restricted all outside and internal activities of our residents, staff, board and volunteers. No visitors will be permitted at any Avenues residential location. The Avenues Center for Independence in Wheeling and our Thrift Shoppe in Chicago will be closed until further notice. To assure that we will be able keep our residents safe, we will be sending staff members from the Center for Independence to our homes to ensure that all of our residents’ needs are being met.
