On Sunday September 15 Avenues to Independence held the 8th Annual Beyond the Runway Tea & Fashion Show was held the Chicago/ Northbrook Hilton Hotel and raised more than $28,000. Proceeds will help support the AveVenture Employment Program at the Avenues Thrift Shoppe.

Avenues to Independence and Harp and Fiddle of Park Ridge kicked of Mardi Gras with a Fat Tuesday feast. Avenues supporters and guests enjoyed a four course New Orleans inspired meal. The dinner included Cajun shrimp corn chowder, crab cake with red cabbage and baja sauce, shrimp and andouille sausage Etouffee over cornbread and for dessert bread pudding
