Stephen has over 16 years of experience in the human services field, 13 of those working with individuals with developmental disabilities. He has a willingness to do whatever it takes to get a job done, a thirst to learn more, and a sincere love for Avenues, our clients and our staff.

It is with mixed emotions that we share the news that our dear friend and colleague, Vice President of Programs Cathy Kerr, will be retiring in September after nearly 42 years of incomparable leadership, care and concern for the people of Avenues. Though we are sad, we want to celebrate her many years of passion, dedication and service and wish her much health and happiness as she pursues the next chapter of her life.

It is with deep, heartfelt gratitude for his 43 years of service, that the Board of Directors of Avenues to Independence announces Robert Okazaki’s retirement as the President/CEO. The Board of Directors is pleased to announce that, with the assistance of Kittleman & Associates, they have appointed Jason Clark as the new President/CEO of Avenues. He joins Avenues in that role on October 5.

On May 29, Illinois entered Phase Three of its reopening plan. With your help and that of many others, the folks with disabilities at Avenues have been able to weather the COVID storm and now can look forward to brighter days as Avenues and the rest of Illinois returns to normal.

Thanks to everyone who has expressed concerns for the folks of Avenues during the current COVID-19 outbreak. Through the work of our direct care and other staff, Avenues has weathered the first wave of this pandemic. The residents and staff who had tested positive three weeks ago have completed their quarantine periods; no additional symptoms have arisen and we are keeping our fingers crossed that the worse is over.
