Every September, organizations across the country come together to honor the incredible contributions of Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). At Avenues, this recognition feels especially meaningful. DSP Recognition Week, which takes place September 7 through 13, 2025, is a chance to shine a spotlight on the people who make our mission possible every single day.

What is DSP Recognition Week?

DSP Recognition Week is a national celebration that acknowledges the dedication and impact of Direct Support Professionals in supporting individuals with disabilities to live full, independent, and meaningful lives. It provides an opportunity to share stories, highlight achievements, and show gratitude for the extraordinary role DSPs play in communities everywhere.

Why DSPs Matter at Avenues

DSPs are the heart of Avenues that make dignity and independence possible. They provide daily support to clients by helping with life skills, personal goals, community involvement, and building independence. Beyond hands-on care, DSPs are mentors, advocates, and companions. They create an environment where our clients can thrive, grow, and achieve dreams that might otherwise feel out of reach.

Whether it is teaching a new skill, celebrating milestones, or offering encouragement, DSPs embody the values of dignity, respect, and compassion. Their work strengthens not only the lives of clients and their families but also our entire community.

Celebrating Our DSPs

This week we pause to say thank you. Thank you for showing up every day with patience and dedication. Thank you for creating moments of joy and belonging. Thank you for carrying forward the mission of Avenues with passion and heart.

Throughout the week we will be celebrating all of the hardworking DSPs at Avenues, and we invite you to follow along and join us in showing appreciation for the individuals who make such a lasting difference.

Happy DSP Recognition Week to all the amazing DSPs at Avenues and beyond.
