Dear Avenues friends and supporters;
The Board of Directors of Avenues to Independence announces that Shawna Egan has been named Vice President of Development effective June 28. Shawna has 30 years of experience in serving non-profit organizations. Her fundraising experience includes special events, grants, major gifts and corporate giving.
Most recently Shawna served as the Director of Development & Marketing at Main Stay Therapeutic Farm; their mission is to enrich individual’s lives through horses, animals and nature. During her tenure, she developed annual fund strategies for major giving, expanded corporate partnerships, and secured multi-year pledges from $5K- $1M.
Shawna started a consulting firm, Campbell Adventures LLC, in 2017 that provided contract services including, board leadership and committee structures, marketing and fund development strategies, creating volunteer recruitment and retention policies, as well as training on people/identity first language, disability etiquette, and professional boundaries. Prior to serving in that role, she served as Director of Legislative Affairs at Little City Foundation, where she spearheaded public policy and advocacy initiatives that support state and federal quality service standards on behalf of individuals with developmental disabilities.
Shawna has a deep connection to the mission of Avenues to Independence as a parent of an adult daughter with significant disabilities. She also has a strong commitment to fundraising as a means to ensure the success of our programs. Shawna is excited about her new role as Vice President, “I am thrilled to be on the Avenues leadership team and am passionate about improving the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities.”
Shawna grew up all over the Midwest and has lived in Cary for the last 25 years with both her daughters, Abby and Jillian. Shawna enjoys travelling, adventure, gardening, music and outdoor activities.
