  
Direct Support Professional-Residential Training Counselor
Great opportunity to
provide residential support services for adults with developmental disabilities
in a group home/apartment.
Provide support and
supervision on activities involved in daily living:
housekeeping, cooking, budgeting, practicing good hygiene,
taking care of one's health, recreation and other day to day
needs of persons with autism, cerebral palsy, Down Syndrome and
other intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Must have one year's
experience in social services and have the physical stamina and
ability to lift, redirect and otherwise participate in the day
to day lives of individuals with disabilities in their home
setting.
Must read and be able to
communicate in English with residents. Must be able to
document activities, health and other issues for daily recordkeeping. Participation in
individual planning and other meetings related to individual
programs will be necessary.
Regular hours vary from 3
pm to 11 pm, weekends mandatory with some overnight schedules
necessary.
Requires HS diploma and
experience working in social services. Additional training
is required and provided by Avenues to Independence.
Direct Support
Professionals must meet the required standards set by the State
of Illinois, for training and Nurses Aide registry and background checks.
