Code of Ethics for Avenues
We, members of the Avenues Board, Staff and Volunteers, recognize the critical role of conscience in choosing among courses of action and taking into account the moral ambiguities of life, commit ourselves to:
Demonstrate the highest standards of personal integrity, truthfulness, honesty and fortitude in all our official activities in order to inspire confidence and trust in our institution.
Establish and implement policy with respect, concern, courtesy, and responsiveness to those we serve.
Strive for personal excellence and encourage a spirit of collaboration with our fellow Avenues colleagues.
Approach our duties with a positive attitude and constructively support open communication, creativity, dedication, and compassion.
Serve in such a way that we do not realize undue personal gain from the performance of our official duties.
Avoid any interest or activity which is in conflict with our official duties.
Respect and protect the privileged information to which we have access in our official duties.
Exercise whatever discretionary authority we have to promote the interest of those We serve.
Accept as a personal duty the responsibility to keep up-to-date on emerging issues affecting the persons served by Avenues.
Support the promotion and implementation of merit selection and programs of affirmative action; and in the assurance of equal opportunity by recruitment, selection, and advancement of qualified persons from all elements of society.
Provide careful oversight to assure professional care of persons being served; proper management of personnel matters; and prudent use of agency funds.
Respect and support federal and state taws and requirements regarding our agency, and when necessary and appropriate, work with other agencies to protect and promote the interests of those we serve.
