An Evening at the Derby most successful Love Affair ever!
The Kentucky Derby may be called the two most exciting two minutes in sports, and this year’s An Evening at the Derby followed that exciting tradition. It was the most successful Love Affair gala in Avenues' history. More than $250,000 – the most ever raised at a Love Affair – definitely put Avenues in the Winner’s Circle.
Special thanks to our sponsors, donors, volunteers and the more than 250 guests who made Avenues the odds on favorite on February 18 at the Loews Hotel in Rosemont. We are extremely grateful to Clarence “Joe” Herbst, Love Affair’s major benefactor, and to the Louis and Harold Price Foundation for providing a $50,000 matching challenge.
Proceeds from An Evening at the Derby will help make a difference to the more than 200 people Avenues serves, by bringing educational and fitness programs along with other meaningful and creative opportunities to their lives.
The Love Affair also honored Allan Bartel, the sixth annual recipient of the Jane and Albert Wohlers Visionary Award. To read more, please visit http://avenuestoindependence.org/News/Article.cfm?ID=3117
Taking their rightful place at the finish line are Love Affair Chair Beth DiMeo (left) and Co-chair Molly Dietlin.
